Overview
FK IMPORTER ("the Extension") is a Chrome browser extension that helps users import product listings from Flipkart into their own WooCommerce store. This Privacy Policy explains what information the Extension accesses, how it is used, and your rights as a user.
Short version: The Extension does not collect, store, or share any personal data with the developer or any third party. All data stays on your device or goes directly to your own website.
What Data the Extension Accesses
The Extension accesses the following information solely to perform its core function:
- Flipkart product page content — title, images, price, description, specifications, and variant data (size/colour) from the Flipkart product page you are currently viewing.
- Your WordPress site URL — the URL of your own WooCommerce website, entered by you in the Settings tab.
- Your secret key — a private key you set up in your own WordPress plugin, entered by you in the Settings tab.
- Active tab URL — read only to check whether the current page is a Flipkart product page before scanning.
How Data Is Stored
Your WordPress site URL and secret key are saved using chrome.storage.local — a browser storage mechanism that keeps data on your own device only. This data is never uploaded to any server operated by the developer and is never shared with any third party.
Flipkart product data is read from the page in memory and sent directly to your own WooCommerce site. It is not stored by the Extension after the import is complete.
Data Transmission
The only network request made by the Extension is a POST request sent from your browser to your own WordPress site's REST API endpoint (/wp-json/adimporter/v1/import). This request contains the scraped product data and your secret key.
No data is sent to the developer, Anthropic, Google, or any analytics or advertising service. The Extension does not contain any tracking code, analytics SDK, or advertising library.
Permissions Used and Why
- activeTab — To identify and inject the scraper into the active Flipkart tab.
- scripting — To inject the bundled scraper.js into the Flipkart page to read product data.
- storage — To save your WordPress URL and secret key locally on your device.
- sidePanel — To display the Extension's interface in Chrome's side panel.
- tabs — To monitor tab URL changes and auto-re-scan when you switch product variants.
- Host access (flipkart.com) — Required to inject the scraper into Flipkart product pages.
- Optional host access (*://*/*) — Requested at runtime only for your own WordPress site URL so the Extension can POST imported product data to your store.
Third Parties
The Extension does not share any data with third parties. It does not integrate with any advertising network, analytics platform, or data broker. The Extension communicates only with Flipkart.com (to read the page you are viewing) and with your own WordPress site (to send the product import).
Children's Privacy
The Extension is intended for use by adults operating WooCommerce stores. It is not directed at children under the age of 13, and the developer does not knowingly collect any information from children.
Changes to This Policy
If this Privacy Policy is updated, the new version will be published at this URL with an updated effective date. Continued use of the Extension after any change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
